AIA Gala Dinner La Llotja de Mar
A Gothic hall dressed in red for AIA's gala night in Barcelona, produced with A Events Group.
The projectA Gothic hall, dressed in red.
For AIA's gala night in Barcelona, produced with A Events Group, the brief was simple to say and hard to deliver: give an Asia-Pacific delegation an evening that could only happen in this city. We chose La Llotja de Mar, Barcelona's Gothic stock exchange, and dressed the courtyard, the grand staircase and the dining hall in one red line.
Guests were welcomed by a violinist on the balcony and flamenco dancers on the staircase, posed at a red rose wall with the AIA logo and gathered in a cocktail hall with a photo backdrop, a sangria bar and a live Iberian ham station. In the Gothic hall we built a freestanding stage in the centre of the room, surrounded by round tables, so every guest sat close to the show.
Heritage venues leave no room for improvisation: loads are calculated and every piece has to come in and out within the slot. That is where our event architecture team earns its keep, and why the night felt effortless for the guests.

From the courtyard to the last toast.
Courtyard, cocktail hall and Gothic dining hall drawn as one guest journey. A freestanding central stage with its own technical memory. One production lead calling the evening from arrival to the final group photo.

La Llotja de Mar doesn't forgive improvisation. Every load, every cable route and every minute of the slot was drawn before the first truck arrived, which is exactly what let the night feel spontaneous: flamenco on the staircase, red light on the stone and a stage right in the middle of the room.Eric PastorCreative Director, Sugar for Events
La Llotja de Mar, asked & answered.
Can you hold a gala dinner at La Llotja de Mar?
Yes. We produced the AIA gala dinner in its Gothic hall, with a freestanding central stage, lighting, catering coordination and a welcome sequence across the courtyard and grand staircase.
How do you build a stage in a heritage venue?
With a freestanding structure designed by our architects, calculated loads and a technical memory prepared before load-in, so the building is protected and the schedule holds.
What entertainment works for international and Asian delegations in Barcelona?
Moments rooted in the city work best: flamenco on the grand staircase, a violinist on the balcony, live Iberian ham carving and a show staged from the centre of the room.
Do you work with international event agencies?
Yes. We produced this gala with A Events Group and regularly work white-label for agencies, DMCs and incentive houses that bring their clients to Spain.
